Android App Video Review: Grooveshark

by Erik Fikkert

Streaming music to your Android phone has been through an interesting journey. Apps like the fabled Spotify (which has yet to be released in the USA), MOG, and more have seen some rough starts due to licensing issues. Another app that shows some promise, however, is Grooveshark.

Grooveshark is a service that offers unlimited streaming of any song you can pretty much think of right to your PC. Now, with an app in the Android Market, you can take your custom playlists and search for new music right on the go. The app is slowly working its way to destroying my need for purchased music.

It ran fast although it did have the occasional crash, and the interface seemed to lack bulk features like “add all to queue” as well as missing user playlist searches.

The app is free to download and quite possibly, one of the best music apps I have seen come to Android. It comes with a trial period but if you want to maintain unlimited music, you’ll have to subscribe to their very reasonable plan. This app is definitely worth a look. Check it out.
