Android App Tablet Review: Captain America

by Phil Hornshaw

Fast-paced, side-scrolling action will keep players engaged in Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty for the extent of its run, even if it is a bit of a rip-off of Electronic Arts’ Mirror’s Edge.

As Cap, your goal is to run through various levels behind enemy lines, smashing Nazi faces and collecting hidden intelligence files. Really, the only goal is to score points and reach the end of each level, and you do that by keeping your speed up as much as possible. Swiping left or right starts Cap running, and swiping up or down will make him jump or slide. You dodge obstacles in this way, and swipe to fight enemies or run along walls to avoid danger.

Simple controls and great tablet graphics make Captain America a pretty good time, especially when you get the timing down and keep the action moving at a fast clip. It’s not the deepest game ever, but for a mere buck, it’s a good way to stay entertained.
