Android App Video Review: Battleheart

by Andrew Koziara

Battleheart is a fantastic and colorful RPG with addicting gameplay and an even more addicting leveling system. This is easily one of my favorite mobile games, and I’m going to tell you why.

The game throws you into a world on a random quest and jumps right into the action. There isn’t really much role-playing in this game, and story really isn’t the focus. The focus is gameplay and leveling. The combat is simple yet challenging, and I was hooked from my very first fight. The challenge comes from keeping track of what all your party members are doing as well as what their health is, and it can get pretty hectic. The special abilities that you use are lots of fun, and even when they aren’t that powerful, they feel powerful through execution. There is also a massive variety to the number of party members you can hire to your team, and they unlock faster than you can even buy them.

The art is cartoonish and colorful, and the simplicity of it all really sets the tone for the gameplay. The little sprites of your characters and of the enemies are pretty cute, even when they are vicious monsters. The whole style reminds me of the popular game, Castle Crashers, though less on the humorous side. One issue I had is with the really long load times. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was anything but just a black screen. It can also be pretty difficult to pick out your characters when they are in a big cluster of enemies. Still, despite any flaws, Battleheart is totally worth it in the end. All you have to do is pick up your swords, muster up some courage, and drop $2.99, and a great RPG experience can be yours. Check it out.
