Fan of both Bejeweled and Tetris? Colorix HD for Android is a clever mash-up of the two, bringing out the best parts of both games.
In Colorix, vertical stacks of shiny, colorful marbles will rain down from the top of the screen. Your job is to make combinations of three or more like-colored marbles, whether they're horizontal, vertical or diagonal. This is what will clear the marbles from the screen, and keep you from running out of space at the top. Just like Tetris, it's game over when you block off the top of the screen and can't stack any more marbles.
To keep things interesting, there are other combos that will help you clear your screen, including a diagonally stacked "ladder" and an L-shaped grouping of colors. These will help you to have faith in your game even when the bottom of your screen is blocked off and you know there's no way to make a set of three.
As marbles fall, you can move the order that your marbles are arranged in by tapping the screen. You can also swipe your finger across the screen to move your marbles. I have to warn you, though, this game is very sensitive to touch. More than once, I accidentally double-tapped the screen, which immediately dropped my stack of marbles to the bottom. Make sure you only tap the screen once.
Just as you might expect from a game with HD in the title, Colorix's graphics are very pretty. There are tons of different, brightly colored marbles in the game, all of which glisten in the light, just like real marbles would. The backgrounds, while they change and add even more color to the game, are much more plain and simple by comparison.
I really enjoyed the game's soundtrack, which made a lot of popping and flute sounds every time I had success. I found this to be extremely gratifying.
Colorix HD was not only very pretty to look at, but it also functioned well, and was very fun to play. Because I'm a big fan of both Tetris and match-three games, I was instantly addicted. This is the best puzzle game I've played in a long while.
