Dodge obstacles - and the blues - with Robot Unicorn Attack for Android

by Caitlin M. Foyt

Robot Unicorn Attack for Android is too bizarre and funny not to love.

The game is just your typical endless running game, in which you have to run and jump to avoid falling or crashing for as long as possible, but its theme and design make it stand out.

In Robot Unicorn Attack, you are a robotic unicorn with a rainbow-colored mane, bounding happily from platform to platform in a world filled with stars, butterflies and rainbows. To get around and avoid obstructions in your path, you use one of the game's two controls: jump or attack (on the left and right sides of the screen, respectively).

The premise of the game is that you have three wishes, or three attempts to stay alive for as long as possible. I'm not quite sure how long this is, seeing that I never made it too far. If you somehow achieve this, all of your dreams will come true.

Unfortunately, this isn't easy. Huge stars and chunks of cave rock will suddenly appear in your path, and if you collide with them, you'll be decapitated. For some reason, even when you fall, your head pops off.

Because Robot Unicorn Attack is a running game, the screen is constantly moving forward. Sometimes, you spend seconds flying through the air, and it's impossible to know where you're going to land. This makes it challenging to dodge obstacles.

The most amusing part of the whole game is its soundtrack, however. Erasure's Always plays in the background, and adds to the flamboyant, magical theme of the game.

This game won't hold your attention for very long, as it probably will become repetitive after a short time. Because it's so goofy, though, it's a great game to keep on your phone to play when you're feeling blue and could use some cheering up.
