Fresh Android Games for Mar. 9: City Defence, Minimalist Tangram

by Ian Black

Defend your territory with City Defence or play a classic tangram puzzle on the go with Minimalist Tangram in today’s fresh Android games.

City Defence (Free)

Arcade flashback: Do you remember Missile Command? You had to defend the landscape in front of you from incoming artillery by guiding surface-to-air missiles to blow them out of the sky. I can’t forget spinning the little black trackball like my life depended on it.

Fast-forward to your smart Android present. This app recreates the drama of Missile Command. Now, you’re in charge of the city. Your tapping fingers will take the place of the trackball.

Minimalist Tangram (Free)

Tangram stems from an ancient geometrical shape game from China that swept through Europe around the time of World War I. It’s still one of the most popular puzzle games in the world.

This app mobilizes the classic game and saves on lumber at the same time. Try to assemble the pieces into the shape displayed in the lower left hand corner of your screen. Tap to drag and rotate the pieces into position. Two pieces will snap together when you put them close to each other unless you adjust the controls in the settings.
