Fresh Android Games for Feb. 23: Mystery-Gallery Homicide, Flight Control, The Light Benders

by Ian Black

This is school vacation week in many states. That means more time for games! Today Mystery-Gallery Homicide delivers an exciting new mystery game to Android, Flight Control finally arrives on Android after a red carpet tour on iPhone and iPad, and Light Benders burns up the puzzle genre with a laser light based game.

Mystery-Gallery Homicide (Free)

I love mysteries. Here’s one for your Android phone that’s reminiscent of Agatha Christie. The setup: two murders and no way out, so the murderer is one of your group. You, playing detective Matt Redmond, must explore the art gallery where the killings took place, solve more than eight puzzles, and learn how the guests relate to each other.

Clever clues, cool puzzles, and a slick Anime art style will keep you on the case until you solve the mystery and expose the murderer.

Flight Control ($2.99)

Originals always deserve credit. Make no mistake – the first touch-controlled “land these damn planes” game was Flight Control by Namco and it’s finally arrived on Android.

Been lost in underground cave for a year? Then I’ll explain how it works. You are an air traffic controller for a very busy airport. You manage multiple runways and your airspace has just become the Grand Central Station of the air. Touch and drag planes to a safe landing, but watch out for mid-air collisions.

The Light Benders ($1.99)

This game shines as a new light-based puzzle. You must light up magic crystals by directing laser lights at them, but it’s more difficult than it sounds.

Mirrors will help you “bend” and “bounce” the light from its source to the gem. Obstacles include TNT boxes that explode from the laser’s heat to ropes that must be cut by the lasers before they release objects they keep suspended in the air.
