Tiki Towers 2: Monkey Republic features swinging monkeys, bouncy handmade bridges and idle stone carvings. It's a very fun and colorful take on your standard physics-based puzzler game.
A reboot of a popular physics-based puzzler, Tiki Towers 2: Monkey Republic is a charming, yet also quite challenging, little game.
The overall objective of the game is to monkey your way across the island and through the dictator's mansion to steal back everything he has taken from you. To do this, you must build bridges out of bamboo, coconuts and vines so the monkeys can swing across gaps that are all over the island.
To build a structure, strategically stack V-shaped formations on top of one another. When you slide your finger across the screen, you can stretch the shape of these building blocks, and choose exactly where you want them to go. If you can, try to come up with a way for your monkeys to not only cross the bridge, but also pick up a few bonus bananas along the way.
Keep in mind that when you're building these structures, you must think carefully about the supplies you're using, as they are limited. Using fewer than the maximum number of bamboo sticks will earn you bonus points.
When you're confident that your structure is sturdy, and you're ready to put it to the test, tap the brown crate to unleash the monkeys.
This is when the strength of Tiki Towers 2's realistic physics come to life. As each animal crosses the bridge, every weak joint on the structure bends under the weight, and moves in the same direction as the scrambling little monkey. If a bridge is faulty, monkeys plummet to their death, and you must repeat the level.
One issue I have with this game is that, while building, I often have difficulty seeing exactly what I'm doing. I found this to be a problem, despite the games' zoom-in and -out option.
This game starts out fairly simply, but quickly becomes very difficult. Unfortunately, if you get stuck on one level, you can't advance. You either figure your way out, or you're doomed to repeat that level forever.
With its clear and vibrant graphics, goofy, cartoony art style and Rudyard Kipling sort of tone, Tiki Towers 2 puts a very different spin on the standard physics-puzzler game. It's a must-download for any fan of the gaming genre.
