Angry birdie love
Love is in the air, and so are our favorite aviary warriors. Angry Birds’ Valentine’s Day edition has finally hit the Market, with an update to the Seasons game. The pink-themed version comes with 15 new levels and three unlockables, along with those special Golden Eggs that are so hard to find. With the update, we see that even mobile games have fallen prey to the marketing madness of this “hearted” holiday.
PlayStation phone love
Love of another kind is breeding in the gaming world, with Sony Ericsson at long last revealing the Xperia Play—the PlayStation Phone.” Premiering in a rather eerie Super Bowl ad, the upcoming Android device will hit the market on Valentine’s Eve with a full unveiling at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.
The Xperia Play features a sliding mechanism that reveals a direction pad, with PlayStation’s trademark buttons, ready and waiting to be caressed by your thumbs. It will run the PlayStation Suite, the game portal announced by Sony a few short weeks ago.
Flash game love
Another gateway to game love is the newly launched Flash Game Player, an app that lets you download any SWF file to your Android’s SD card to play Flash games offline. Free, this app circumvents mobile browser game play, which generally isn’t optimized for smartphone use. Along with Kongregate Arcade’s flash-landing in the Market, it’s clear that Flash games are finding a home on Android devices everywhere.
