Android App Video Review: Droid Odyssey

by Erik Fikkert

Android users have plenty of apps to choose from, but one genre that has often gone unnoticed for the most part are platformers. Games like Mario and Sonic helped us define what video games are today, but rarely do I see one for Android. Droid Odyssey isn’t a true platformer as it is more about solving puzzles than jumping around, but it is definitely a step in the right direction.

You play as a small robot who needs to solve different puzzles using his tractor beam to place objects in key areas to move forward. The concept has been done plenty of times but this one has a unique feel that leaves you wanting more.

The game was only in beta at the time of this preview but it definitely had the feel of a polished game. The puzzles grew more challenging as the levels went on and it never grew old using the tractor beam to suck things towards you. The beta is constantly being updated so definitely check it out if you’re looking for a new challenge on your phone.
