Andor's Trail, Ancient Frog lead Android Games of the Week

by Caitlin M. Foyt

This week's Fresh Android Games round-up includes some retro-style adventuring, plus a somewhat wildlife-influenced theme with a peaceful frog, a crazy bird, and an ant that just keeps running and jumping.

Andor's Trail (Android) FREE

Andor's Trail sounds like it's reminiscent of the Nintendo classic game series The Legend of Zelda, except, of course, for your Android phone instead.

In this fantasy adventure game, you embark on quests, battle scary monsters, uncover hidden treasures and improve your equipment. Along the way, you'll want to learn more about the mysterious disappearance of your brother.

This game appears to have have the aesthetic of old school 8-bit games that came out in the late '80s and early '90s, so retro gamers may also get a kick out of this one.

Ancient Frog (Android) $2.73

Ancient Frog is a puzzle game that requires strategy and patience. Guide your frogs, one leg at a time, across the screen in order to capture and eat different kinds of bugs. Choose from six different species of frogs to play as.

This game has a very peaceful ambience about it. There is no time frame that you must complete this by. Instead, you are encouraged to take your time, relax and enjoy the colorful designs and sounds of the forest.

Crazy Bird (Android) FREE

In the game of Crazy Bird, you're a tiny bird, sitting on a platform made of building blocks in the sky. This game is more than what it seems. You have to use your brain to solve the puzzles.

To play the game, use the on-screen controls to jump from block to block. Every time you hop onto a new block, the block immediately behind you will fall to the ground. To complete a level, you must make all of these platform blocks fall. The catch is, however, that you can only hop onto each block a certain number of times. The game will become increasingly more difficult as it progresses.

Ant Run (Android) FREE

Did you know that ants can run and jump? No? Well, actually, I don't know if that is true in nature, but it's that facts of life in the game of Ant Run.

In this game, it's a race to get to the finish line, just make sure you avoid the obstacles along the way. Press the left side of the screen for lower jump and the right side of the screen for higher jump to get rid of the barriers. It's fun to play, but it might be worth the download just to check out the graphics.
