Pocket Legends, City Jump lead Fresh Android Games of the Week

by Caitlin M. Foyt

In this installment of Fresh Android Games of the Week, try out a World of Warcraft style game on the go, scale skyscrapers in a superhero game, and make sure to check out the recently updated Angry Birds.

Pocket Legends BETA (3D MMO) (Android) FREE

Pocket Legends BETA is a real-time strategy game that's very similar to the massive multiplayer online role-playing game World of Warcraft. Select your character and its class, fight monsters and embark on challenging quests.

Play in multiplayer mode, and you can chat with other players, assemble a team of warriors and take on missions together as a group. This, too, is a game that has it's own community. It sounds about as involved as a lot of PC games of the same type, but it’s all on your Android phone.

City Jump (Android) FREE

There's a scene in the 1992 Disney movie Aladdin, where he's singing while running, jumping from building to building, and wearing disguises in order to escape the palace guards. The game of City Jump doesn't take place in Agrabah Market or in any kind of story resembling Arabian Nights, but there's something about this game that reminds me of Aladdin.

Leap between buildings, avoid obstacles and take out your enemies. Tap the screen to jump from one side to the other and turn into an invincible Superman when you're knocking down three enemies of the same kind. This game has been recently updated for improvements to the overall experience and also supports trackball use.

Angry Birds update (Android) FREE

Just when you thought your obsession with Angry Birds would come to an end, the game's developer Rovio has released an update to the popular application. This update brings 45 new levels, bringing the count up to a total of 195. There's also a bunch of bug fixes including QVGA support, a brand new character and even some improvements on previous graphical issues.

Supposedly, Rovio still hasn't fixed that bug found on reddit which allows you to skip ahead in the game. This means, for now, you'll still be able to jump ahead to these new levels, even if you haven't passed the ones that came before.

EVAC HD (Android) $1.56

The electric alternative to Pac-Man has been updated. The developer of the app, Hexage Ltd., has released HD versions of all five of its Android games.

Radiant, Everlands, Totemo, Buka and EVAC have all been redesigned with better graphics, visual effects and new features, Hexage said.

For a limited time, until November 12th, all of the HD versions will sell for a quarter of their usual price. If you've already bought EVAC or any of Hexage's other games, this might be a tempting upgrade that can't be refused.

Happy Sudoku (Android) FREE

Happy Sudoku is a traditional version of the popular game of Sudoku, a logic-based number placement puzzle. The object of the game is to fill a 9x9 grid with numbers so that every column and row contains all of the numbers from 1 to 9 exactly once.

If you enjoy solving these kinds of puzzles on the back page of your Sunday newspaper, this download may not be a bad idea. Additionally, puzzles are a good way to improve memory and prevent the onset of different kinds of brain diseases.
