Alchemist 2 and other top Android Games of the Week

It’s getting chilly outside, so why not stay warm and play a few games on your Android? This week brings a number of platform games and puzzlers to the Android Market, topping the charts with new and updated releases.

In other Android game news, Kamikaze Race has launched a beta version, while Alchemist II is a must-try game for fans.

For the adventurous

Kamikaze Race Beta is a slot racer game that drops you in the middle of a traffic-heavy interstate. Your mission is to get through rush hour safely, in a car with no brakes. You have to steer and veer from potential crashes to see how far you can make it. This free Android game is a top performer this week.

In the free Android game Duck Hunter, your objective is to kill all the zombie ducks before they escape the dark forest. Duck Hunter is a basic shooter game, requiring a lot of tapping; the better your aim, the more bonuses you’ll gain, earning high point scores and extra lives. With this game, you can choose your weapon, load-up and get to hunting.

Dig your way through mountains to find hidden riches, with Gem Miner. The free game takes you deep underground, where you’ll need to blast your way through boulders and avoid abandoned mine shafts. In-app upgrades let you buy all the equipment you’ll need to master this gold rush.

Squibble swings from one obstacle to another, making his way through this 2D game. Each level brings new challenges, but Squibble can overcome them all -- as long as he lands on the right platforms. Avoid enemies and long falls with this free game preview.

City Jump is another platform jumper, with your superhero leaping from one building to another, killing enemies along the way. Watch out for hurdles and other challenges, and earn bonuses and special powers to help you defeat each level in this free Android game.

Problem solvers

Alchemist 2 has landed in the Android Market, based on the original color puzzle. Your job is to find the hidden color combo to solve each level, which increases in difficulty at every turn. Unlock hidden achievements and rewards, which will help you master the more challenging levels along the way. This game is reasonably priced at $1.34.

Impossible Level Game from HyperBees has new levels to boggle the brain. Teeming with challenges that get harder with every level, you’ll want to throw your phone after trying to figure out some of these riddles. Priced at $1.56, this Android game has multiple play modes, so you’ll never run out of ways to challenge yourself.

FreeCell Solitaire has worked its way up the charts this week, with a major update and support for all Android devices. Being dedicated to only one solitaire version, this game is colorful and full of music and graphics. You get hints and other controls along the way, and you can share your high scores via Scoreloop.

Live Hold’em Tour takes the popular poker game on tour, letting you work your way up in ranking against millions of players online. Tied into its Facebook app, Live Hold’em is straddling two popular game platforms, making it easy for you to continue gameplay anytime and anywhere.
