Fresh Android Games for Oct. 28: PVZ, Playmate Lite, Blocks 4000

by Caitlin M. Foyt

In today's Fresh Android games, check out a game for fans of Plants vs. Zombies, a new twist on the old classic Memory game, and fresh take on Tetris. What's more, they're all free.

PVZ (Android) FREE

Those who have been waiting impatiently for the game Plants vs. Zombies to come to Android are still going to have to wait a little longer, but this substitute might suffice in the meantime. PVZ obviously is not the official PopCap version of the game that iPhone users have been going crazy over, but it sounds like this is a pretty decent copycat. The premise is similar: use an arsenal of plants, pea shooters, walnuts and cherry bombs to protect your house from a mob of zombies.

Playmate Lite (Android) FREE

Playmate Lite is essentially the game of Memory, a concentration card game that you may have played as a child. Flip over the tiles, which are lying face down, two at a time, and do your best to remember where these pictures are located on the board. The object of the game is to turn over pairs of matching cards. This game has two different game types to choose from: Life Limit and Time Limit. In other words, play until you lose, or play until time runs out.

Blocks 4000 (Android) FREE

This brain puzzle may remind you of the classic game of Tetris. Move and rotate the colored blocks to create a full line without any gaps. By doing this, you can clear a line of bricks and prevent the top of the screen from becoming filled. Be careful, though. As the game progresses, this causes the blocks to fall more quickly and you'll be surprised how fast you'll be buried under the stack. The game ends when the stack of blocks reaches the top of the playing field and no new ones are able to enter.
