Traffic Rush is a fast-paced balancing act

by Caitlin M. Foyt

As a traffic director in the virtual world of Traffic Rush, you have one job: Ensure that none of the passing vehicles collide. It's the kind of game where there's not a whole lot to it, but even in it's simple format, it's a tough app to master.

The game starts out easy enough. Press start, and you'll find yourself directing an intersection where cars, trucks or motorbikes will drive through at their own speed. Keep these motorists from crashing by either sliding across the carrier with your finger to make the driver accelerate, or tapping it to make the driver stop. (Quick tip: If you decide to stop a car, keep in mind that the cars following will also stop.)

The game gets more difficult with extended gameplay. More vehicles will start to appear in your intersection, and you'll have to stay alert if you want to figure out how you're going to manage all of them.

Traffic Rush has a crisp design and cute cartoon-like graphics, but it's the sounds the cars make that really set the aesthetic of the game. Each type of vehicle makes its own goofy sound.

This app has great replay value as you attempt to top your previous score, which is determined by the amount of cars that travel through the intersection. Because it's free, it's definitely worth checking out.
