OK I own both Nexus G1 and the iPhone 4... so 1.) THe NESoid is pirating software I can't believe you would say that's ok to do. 2.) robo defense is lame, there are much better games on the iPhone such as Angry Birds, I do like the Flash enabled browsers but in the past year that really hasn't been a problem for my iPhone but they should enable it for the iPad. 3. Google Skymap is nice but their a are better skygazing apps on iPhone. 4. Tasker seems pretty cool I haven't tried it and 5.) LauncherPro is a tad buggy. The iPhone has much MUCH better apps than android.
We removed NESoid from this story.
You should put NESoid back because it is only pirating if you don't own a copy of the game.
Nesoid (NES emulator)
Sadly..My boyfriend left me a year ago. now.I may be in need of someone to love...
I am young and beautiful, but alone. My friends told me about the site

1) I agree
2) robo defense is nice there are a few others that are better *and free* and Angry Bird is on Android!
3) fair enough you like iPhone more
4) Tasker is nice *as is most customization but Jobs doesn't want you to know that*
5) LauncherPro is a bit bugger, I prefer Home++ running on CyanogenMod *customization again*
Did I mention Customization?
Hi iphone fanboy
Robo defense is amazing, your opinion means nothing.
We both know your non-flash enabled iphone is a problem.
There are currently no better skymaps than google, this is fact, and you can research this.
How's your video chat doing? What about when you leave a wifi area?
The Android has much MUCH better apps than iphone.
iphone fanboy??? serious.. he gave you a comparison with a android phone he also uses.. I think he has a valid opinion unlike most android fanboys who just hate anything apple so bad they must bash the iphone.. for each is own.
How's this for a defense game on iphone...
how's this for not having flash...
and this is a serious contender to google sky but i'd have to give this one to google.
and as for video chat only on wifi... read it and weep.
Thank you RyanRoland. Drshady is so bias. Face the facts Android is taking over iphone. Buhbye
Retina display. Your comment is now invalid. =]
Look at the numbers Biodina, iPhone couldnt even overtake blackberry while there was no android, and with Android in the picture, they are now third, and a slightly better display wont change that.
Retina display will mean nothing when Gingerbread comes out and phones will be outputting 1280x760 resolutions.
wow ,this is a great article !
. I am a doctor 30 years old, mature and beautiful.and now I am
seeking a young man who can give me real love , so i got a username
Myshinelife on Cougarchats. ℃○M ~told it is the first and best club for Cougars and Young Men.i love it my dear friends
I'm calling BS on this Apple fanboy post. Anyone who has owned a Nexus One would NOT call it a Nexus G1. The G1 was the first HTC Android phone on T-Mobile, and has since been upgraded to a G2, both having a physical keyboard. The Nexus One was an iphone like device (slim profile, all touch screen), and could NEVER be mistaken for the G1 or G2. If you truly owned the Nexus One, you would not get this wrong. I NEVER have seen any Nexus One owner accidentally call is a Nexus G1.
iSuggest you stop being such an iPhaget! Who carries two phones from different companies? WAR Apple Killer!!!
Needless to say but I own all these apps and I can always show them off to my friends that have an iPhone :)
NESoid is not illegal software. It's not having permission to use the ROMs that's the problem.
@Drshady. I hate when iPhone fanboys start by saying they have *both* and iPhone and an Android-based phone. 1) If you still have those games, and I still do, you *can* make a backup copy and play them on your phone, so it isn't pirating. 2) If you have both phones, then you would know that "Angry Birds" is available in the Android Market as well. And LauncherPro is buggy? *Seriously*? You must be a novice user. No problems at all on my Evo.
Ian didn't discuss all the awesome custom ROMs and kernels that are being designed that allow us Android users to overclock our phones, undervolt the processors, etc. (I've been enjoying the heck out of Myn's WarmTwoPointTwo the past couple weeks.) But I'm assuming he didn't mention that b/c you can't make custom ROMs for the iPhone, and he wanted this to be somewhat of an apples to apples comparison. If you like having your cake, get an iPhone. If you like having your cake *and* eating it too, get a high-end Android phone.
Nice you pulled out the ROMs and kernels!!! lol... but pst... *don't let Jobs here you talking about customization... just put on your black turtle neck and shut up....* Funny now Apple was going to be the anti-establishment against IBM back in the day and break the mold only to learn that Jobs really meant.. he was going to give all this kool-aid drinkers a new mold to fit into... his mold.. lol
How's the battery life on that Evo?
No better or worse than your iPhone.
Can always get a second battery, how do you change your ICrap battery?
And how does your Idrop work on cdma network that rarely drops calls and has a download speed of 10mps? NO Way can the iPhone beat android...
Samsung Epic.... Destory of them All in Sprints 4g Network!
Now that we have custom ROMs and kernels to use, battery life is outstanding. And I get a full charge in a little over an hour. There are developers making kernels *specifically* to address battery life. And they are excellent. At night, I usually have 10% or more battery life, and that's with pretty decent usage. And as mentioned below, although I've never had the need to, I can always buy a backup battery and throw it in if I need to.
Funny thing is, I have an NES emulator on my iphone, as well as a really awesome app called StarWalk, it is much better than the Google one. Another thing, Google Voice IS on the iphone! I use it all the time!
Tasker looks like a GREAT idea! I hope that something like that comes along for the iPhone but if not, thats ok, Im not switching just for that.
I would like to see Flash actually make it to the iPhone, but I dont really see the big deal. There are ways around it...
This is a terribly misleading and error-riden article.
In point of fact there are a number of Google Voice apps now available for iOS including GV Mobile (Apple loosened up their approvals a few months ago - remember?).
There are also a dozen different browsers for iOS including Opera. If you want Flash, you do however have to jailbreak your iPhone and download Frash.
Likewise there have been a number of augmented reality Astronomy apps like Pocket Universe and Star Map on the iOS platform for ages.
It is true that you can't customise iOS as much as Android. If you jailbreak however, then you have all of these same options. Considering most serious Android users root their Android phones, jailbreaking the iPhone is in a similar class.
If you want games then you definitely don't want an Android phone. Here are the stats for numbers of big name game titles released by some of the largest mobile Game publishers:
* Gameloft – 136 games for iOS vs 12 games for Android
* Capcom Mobile – 27 games for iOS vs 4 games for Android
* EA – 74 games for iOS vs 0 for Android
* Ngmoco – 42 games for iOS vs 0 for Android
* Pangea – 24 games for iOS vs 0 for Android
* Popcap – 5 for iOS vs 0 for Android
And total number of games:
iOS = 38,000 vs Android = 13,000
Although Popcap and EA have said they will start porting some games to Android soon, this disparity is not likely to change much with iOS developers making 50x the income ($1 billion) compared to Android ($21 million) over a similar timeframe and with piracy ranging from 50-97% on Android.
If you want games from the old NES or SNES, Atari, C64 and other platforms, most have already been ported to iOS and updated already. However, if you are really desperate, you can also jailbreak your iPhone and install a NES emulator from the Cydia App store.
By the way, Skyfire itself has announced that they have been working with Apple and the app should be available on iOS very soon.
how man online sites can you play games on.... aka... flash games online.... yep thought so... so.. ummm... thousands of online games "FREE" on Android... enjoy your iPhone... btw... can you still make calls with your phone.. .lol sorry couldn't resist.
I have used online games with flash on android.. I think android is pretty sweet but flash games are not a selling point, very buggy.. just keep to the customizing argument please. Notice harware vendors rarely advertise Flash games in commercials?? there's a reason.
this site has an app for every phone http://www.virtualdatespace.com/mobile , free site a must see.
Try Borrowbuddy on the android, not available for the iPhone. Lend or borrow something to/from a friend, take it's picture and keep track of it, send reminders, etc.
The game Lame Castle just came out on android, it's worth checking out
Customization is what it is all about today. Unlike the box Jobs wants you to live in; I can use my phone the way I want. Think about it, for just a moment. Wasn't Apple the ones who were going to break you free of IBM circa 1984(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8)? Now we learn Jobs just wanted everyone to put on their black turtle necks, buy the iFollowJobs, drink the kool-aid and shut up?
First of all... robodefense looks like crap, and there alot better tower defense games on the iphone
2nd dig deeper cant even compete with Dig it Expeditions and it has better graphics also
3rd Havent you heard of cydia? you can download Frash from cydia, and there you go! you have flashplayer!
The 4th thing there are pretty cool sky apps on the iphone that uses your location to see what the sky looks like right now and helps you find constellations
Number 5! Beyond moving icons? and changing wallpapers? what a moron! clearly this guy never even had a chance to use a iphone! you can easily download themes from cydia and install them!Change the icons, change the look of your music player, the font of your system, your lock screen, basically anything! and you can even get a video wallpaper!
really you can change the look of the icons.. cool... omg... change the look of the music player.. wow... does it make phone calls too?... oh only if you hold it right... or use a bumper.. oh ok.. I guess as long as you drank the kool-aid it is fine. ;-) But yeah iFollow is the best thing ever because it is different not like IBM where everything is controlled and you have no choice but to do what they tell you to do... nah you are free .... just as long as you do as Steve Jobs says so yeah don't think for yourself just put on your black turtle neck, buy your iJunk, shut up and drink the kool-aid already.
Yeah! u can also download lots of games like stf4 for free & not pay an extra fee for turning your phone into a hotspot HOT-DIGGITY!! F%&@ Android !! GO-iPhone!
haha the adroid fanboy has to resort to the hold it a certain way.. android lovers like you blew that way out of proportion. wow com on man!
@blackbullet, my EVO is rooted, and I can wire tether AND wireless tether for free. In 4G (Yes, I'm in a 4G city). Oh, and my plan cost $87/month including tax, fees, etc, AND my data usage is unlimited. UNLIMITED.
@sigh, rooted? Just another word 4 jailbreak, Android? (OPEN)? My A#%S! A buddy of mine has an evo & he always complains about it freezing on him. Never that on iPhone baby! The most solid OS out there, He'll be returning it ASAP! XD. I've beeeeeeeeeeen doin mywi since 09, I DO have UNLIMITED data since 07, when the trailblazing 1st iPhone Came out. I think I'll take my 380,000 apps rather than just you're 100,000. Thank you very much! Also what about STF4? Madden11, Fifa11? And All these BADASS GAMES! Like the Sit & Sleep Mattress Guy Says, Yeah you guessed it, For FREEEEEEEEE!!!! LOL! Need I go On? Can't get that in android market. ANDROID EPIC FAIL!
Nice that you have to resort to jailbreaking/mod your iphone in order to decently compare it to android's capabilities. cydia? yeah, go ahead and use it...but only after you jailbreak it first. then wait for the next iUpdate and have to re-jailbreak it. the purpose of the article was to have a side by side comparison of "factory" versions of iPhone & Android...start comparing jailbroken versions of both and then see what the results are. sure there are a few things i may like as far as features go for an iphone, but they wane in comparison to the features i like in a droid.
Regardless, there are much better games for both phones than the ones listed, so that point is moot. there may be at present more game apps on iPhone than Android...but there are more FREE versions of identical or similar games on the Android marketplace than iPhone or Blackberry. Pay for it on iPhone, or get it for free on droid? personally, i'll take the droid. not to mention better cell coverage, cellular plans, easier customization and personalization and all the other advantages to owning a droid versus any advantages of owning an iPhone.
Despite all of the back & forth on here and on every other article or blog that attempts to compare the two, there will always be arguments on both sides that "My phone is better than yours," and that won't change until you get to experience both. Funny thing is most already have their mind made up that they won't like the alternative, so not going into any comparison with an open mind won't help.
To each his own, right? It's just a phone. Besides, in a few years, something newer and better than the iPhone and Androids will be out and yet another argument of "mine is better than yours" will ensue.
Wait.. if you jailbreak your iPhone Steve Jobs comes over and slaps you silly then repos the phone and yells "NO PHONE FOR YOU"... before he activates the special "Jobs function" and vanishes! lol
Google Voice is not an Android only App. It's on my blackberry right now as well as the full google suite....you lie...you loose
loose what? Loose screw? Loose Stool? oh wait you meant lose...
That miner game really reminds me of "I Dig It" game for the iOS, and I hate Apple for not integrating flash feature in the iOS.
I can't believe people actually fight about phones?
Lol and they say that kids and teens are stupid..look at our older generation.
Honestly, Android should be for more advanced users and people who like to mess with their phones. If you like simplicity and enjoy having it done for you, then get the iphone. I take iphone, it's easier and better in my case for what I use it. I like mac way better than microsoft.
I agree.. Android is for the power users. The people who liked building Linux machines to play with and the iPhone is like AOL for the internet. If you want it to be just point and click simple get an iPhone. I spent a day teaching my mom how to use her Blackberry and now she loves it but now she wants an Android phone because she likes all the things I can do with mine, like controlling things around the house, I have a wired home. But then again it did take a day to teach her most of the stuff. But some people are just looking for simple, no need to learn anything just pick it up and go and the iPhone is great for that, I agree, 100%. I don't think it is a crappy phone I just don't think it is powerful enough for what I want to do, personally.
"Doesn't support flash" is going to equate to "doesn't do $#it"! Apple would have made NO money had they supported it from the beginning, but since their monopoly has flown, they have no reason not to join the rest of the civilized world and support flash. If they don't it will be a mistake.
Emulators are NOT pirate software, the ROMS are, however if you OWN the original cartridge, you still have the right to play the game on an emulator.
iPeople rule!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUl1DFBKdv8
Wow Sky map looks like crap compared to Sky walk for iPhone and iPad
The only thing that looked like a game with decent graphics turned out to be a tiny web browser, look at the little teny tiny people. I wouldn't use this phone if it was free, Have you SEEN the iPhone? Hello?
No I havent because they dont have service in my large area, but verizon does...
Can your Iphone 4 make calls without dropping them? I don't think so. Not to mention, the Iphone still hasn't made it into the 4g market. It also doesn't offer as many free apps as the android market. (At least good ones)
Actually there is no 4G in the United States. 4G by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is defined as being 100 Mbit/s (high mobility) and 1 Gbit/s (low mobility). http://4g-wirelessevolution.tmcnet.com/topics/4g-wirelessevolution/articles/112973-norway-tries-clarify-confusion-definition-4g.htm. I wish the cellphone companies would stop saying 4G. America is behind the rest of the world in cellphone technology. I'd love to see 4G in the USA but I don't see it coming anytime soon.
The way I see it iPhone 4 is like having a Mac Book Pro and any Phone using the Andriod OS is like having a PC. Yea the PC you can customize everything about it, from the MB to the Proccessor but just like anyone who's ever had a PC and gone to Mac, Once you go mac you never go back and I don't have to customize my iphone because just like a Mac Book Pro and a PC, the pro doesnt need anything extra to make it a badass machine. Sux for you android users. Oh an theres alot more developers developing on the iphone OS than Android, who do you think is going to run or should I say keep running the market???
Agree... completely! I use to be completely against Apple until I tried a Mac Book. And as you said once you go Mac you never go back. I love my Mac Book and my iPhone. The arguments here are pointless. Everyone has their own opinion and prefers different phones that is why there are so many available. I personally love my iPhone and would NEVER trade it for an Android phone no matter what. I guess I am just a mindless drone... whatever, my devices work fantastic and I am happy with it and with continue to stick with Apple products no matter what!
My wife has Android and me iPhone ... We both enjoy "Word Score" and "Word Smart" games ... It is simple, fun and challenging .. and looks like it does not use flash .. we play for hours ....
All Iphone users are just drones that have become addicts to their product no matter how poorly the device functions or how much you have to pay to use this device exclusivley with at&t. Apple controls you and tells you what and what you can not do with your phone.
lol... like I have been saying... "put on your black turtle neck, buy your iJunk, shut up and drink the kool-aid already." :-) but hey it is a nice device if you want something simple without too much fuss or control... it is the AOL of cellphones.
Droid user - my daughter's iPod touch owns me for apps. Most games on Droid are lame.
"It’s jolly old England and enemy knights want to invade your castle." um.... what game are you talking about? cuz that sure doesnt sound like robo defense lol.......
Here's the issue I have with Apple's absolutely ridiculous decision to drop Adobe Flash.
Apple is killing off the path to their existence, and care nothing about it. Perhaps Steve Jobs should learn more about Apple's history. Apple would be nowhere without the support of Adobe, whom they are now choosing to thumb their nose at.
In the early days of Apple, in the 80's, Adobe licensed the "spirascan" method of creating fonts on the screen in a Graphical User Interface (GUI), which Apple chose to steal from Xerox's PARC research and development facility. This lead to rapid deployment of Apple products, especially in the graphic arena.
However, Apple computers aren't designed to be the superior number crunchers that PCs are, and this has been true throughout the computing age. Macs are better at one thing, and one thing only... memory management.
So, for Apple to choose to eliminate support for the very company (Adobe) which catapulted them into existence instead of obscurity, is extremely myopic and destined to create problems for the company in the future.
If one thing can be learned from history, it's that company's fail when they attempt to control every aspect of something people want. This is where Apple has been headed, with their history of planned obsolescence in their products over decades. Now they're eliminating app suppliers.
Next, there may be such a narrow path for developers, with such small opportunities for ROI, that it may have to rely on subsidizing them or else find themselves without the quality they could be attracting to their platforms.
This is why every piece of software coded for both Mac and PC is more robust, with more features, on the PC over Mac. This has been true for many years, and will probably continue. Especially if Apple chooses to continue down this path of eliminating those who helped create who they are, and helped them to build the company on their apps, like they did with the prior partnerships with Adobe.
robo defence is a rip off of FIELDRUNNERS
besides iphone has street fighter IV -
there is Modern Warfare 2 for Android.. plus there is a flash version of Street Fighter that you can play on Android too.
Why not have an article about the 10,000 cool apps not available on Android? I don't see the point of the article.
For one, this guy is fooling himself; he's a moron. The iPhone will have skyfire this friday (11-5-10)http://modmyi.com/forums/iphone-news/735513-flash-video-comes-iphone-via-skyfire.html
Google Voice has been on the iPhone for over 2 months now, look in the app store it's under gv mobile+. Next, Google Skymap = Starwalk (exactly like skymap). Next, customized iphones are called jailbroken iPhones, and it's free! They can even run the platform of Android on the iPhone, and have it duelboot! Man, this is not even a debate. Get your facts straight! Android should be ashamed to have someone as ignorant as you writing articals for them.
