No WiFi? No problem! Get tethered with these apps  by GirlGoneGeek

GirlGoneGeek says: Sometimes you just NEED the internet. Use these apps to make your phone into a hotspot for your computer and get online using your own connection! This is especially handy when traveling, or at one of those dumb "free wifi" places that set time limits for sessions. And, since you control the connection, it's a bit more secure than a public connection. (Disclaimer: using your phone as an internet connection uses data. You may have a data cap on your plan. This is not my problem.)
GirlGoneGeek's picks
  1. PdaNet
PdaNet This is my favorite wired tether app. There's a phone component and a desktop component, which you can download to your phone and then just transfer using USB. It's super easy to install and use. The basic version is free but it has a few limitations (can't get on secure sites), so get the paid one for all internet, including secure sites.
  2. Easy Tether
Easy Tether This wired tether app works pretty much like PdaNet above, and the only reason it loses points for ME is that it seemed to drain my battery faster when I tested it. Same deal though - phone component, desktop component, simple to set up and connect.
  3. Wireless Tether for Root Users
Wireless Tether for Root Users Yes, ROOT USERS ONLY. This app makes your phone into a WIRELESS hotspot, and you can link several devices to it at once. You can also set your own security preferences. This app in the market MAY not work on your phone, but if it doesn't you should use the link at the left here to go to the Google Code project and load up one specific for your phone.
