Shred the Snow With Your Droid  by Saperle

Saperle says: From the first time I have to break out my scarf each year until the time when large quantities of snow actually start to fall, my mind is in the mountains (or very tall hills!) and this year I am super excited to try out these awesome apps for snowboarders and skiers.
Saperle's picks
  1. OnTheSnow Ski & Snow Report
OnTheSnow Ski & Snow Report Want to know the conditions at your local hills? Use this app from to see the snow conditions, weather forecast, and even the webcams for local mountains, or find out how far you have to go to get to actual powder.
  2. Ski Racing
Ski Racing Follow professional skiing? Use this app to track the results of competitions and your favourite athletes.
  3. Ski Eagle GPS
Ski Eagle GPS This app has both a free (ad-supported) and a Pro version, but even the free version is incredibly useful: if you and your friends have this app you can use it to track each other with GPS, even after you've separated on the hill. Select which resort you're at (even internationally!) and follow your friends and family on a map of the hill. You can also use it to track weather conditions.
  4. Ski TrailMaps
Ski TrailMaps Always lose your map of the hill? You'll never need it again with this handy international app that will also tell you the weather and snow conditions of the hill, and show you images from the resort's webcam (only unlimited with the Pro version).
  5. Android Ski Free
Android Ski Free Remember that old school windows ski game? This is kind of like that but with more 'events' and a little android skier. Steer by tilting your phone and choose from a number of ski events. There are a limited number of plays on the free version.
